Retreat
"Released from the white noise of our daily lives, we have the opportunity to attend to our real selves." Deena Metzger*
Retreat is a state of mind, as well as an action, an inner time out of time, a return to our still center. Leaving for a while - for some minutes, days or weeks - the demands of our outer lives, we make space and time for our inner life, the life of our spirit or soul, to be nourished and cared for. We invite our dreams and the whisperings of our inner compass to make themselves known. We attend to hurts and stresses that have been pushed aside as we carry on with our responsibilities. We make room for fresh creativity to flow through us. We remember what we really love, what feeds our deep selves, who we really are and wish to be. And so we replenish ourselves.
At Ango Retreat, the land itself invites and supports this quiet inner attuning, from the moment of arriving past majestic madrona trees and down the winding forested lane to the beautifully spacious vista that unfolds. Time and space seem to stretch as our senses drink in both the amazing details of the natural world around us, as well as the expansiveness of sky, sea and distant snow-peaked mountains.
Over the years Ango Retreat has become a cherished sanctuary for spiritual and cultural leaders, musicians and other public figures whose demanding work and high profile make finding the space for personal downtime particularly challenging. Ango offers the privacy and confidentiality to hang public hats at the door, shake off the travel dust and enjoy much-needed time and space to simply be oneself.
We also have a special appreciation for those whose work on behalf of others in very challenging conditions such as in conflict or disaster zones, institutions, developing communities and so on can be especially depleting, leaving a residue of stress and trauma. For you, a retreat here offers the inherently healing and quietly nurturing qualities of the land itself.
